Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park (Catalan: Parc Nacional d’Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici, Spanish: Parque Nacional de Aiguas Tortas y Lago de San Mauricio), is one of the fifteen Spanish national parks, and the only one located in Catalonia.
A wild mountain region in the Pyrenees, with peaks rising to 3017 m (Besiberri Sud) and with nearly 200 lakes, many of them of glacial origin, the park comprises a core area of 141 km2 and a buffer zone of 267 km2 surrounding the park. The park’s name in Catalan is Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici, freely translated as “The winding streams and St. Maurice lake”.
The park has an elevation range of 1600 to 3000 metres and contains four major vegetation zones: lower montane, upper montane, subalpine and alpine.
The fauna includes Pyrenean chamois, brown bear, marmot, ermine, roe deer, among other mammals and numerous birds (black woodpecker, common crossbill, lammergeier, golden eagle).

Plans de viatge
After arrive to Barcelona Airport a person from our team will be there to pick up the guests from Barcelona to Sort by van (8 sits + 1 driver sit), in case, we have 2 vans.
We will stay in Can Josep hotel the 7 nights.
BCN - Sort - 3 hours aprox.
First day, we start from Espot, one of the gates to the National Park, today we will enjoy one of the most famous trek in Spain Pyrenees.
The national park is well known because there are more than 200 lakes.
We start walking from Prat de Pierrot parking to the summit of Els Encantats, from there we descend the same way and then we will complete the full loop of Sant Maurici.

We walk from Noarre arround the Natural Park of High Pyrenees, one of the most beautiful parts walking along rivers and around plenty of lakes.
Is a wonderful walk away of people and with some spots where we can see in a good day some deers.

Today we are going to achieve the summit of Pica Roja, a technical summit around 3000 meters high summits, a special spot in the middle of nothing.

Adventure day, we will do an easyy canyon (if the conditions are okei), more or less is going to take arround 3 hours, we will have lunch and after having lunch we are going to do a via ferrata K3 near Alins. Both activities are optional, are included in the price but like everything you can choose to do another thing. Special dinner!
We drive to Peulla ski resort parking we start walking up to Gerber lake, we cross lots of lakes (Rodó lake, Illa lake, Blau lake, Xemeneia lake), we cross Bassiero hill and we start going down to Mata de València forest, the biggest fri tree forest in Spain.
We finished walking alont the forest to the car.

Embark on a breathtaking route through Pessonada, where you'll uncover remnants of the Spanish Civil War while walking along dramatic cliffs. The trail offers unparalleled views of the Conca de Tremp and the serene Sant Antoni Reservoir, making it a perfect blend of history, nature, and awe-inspiring landscapes.
Technical descend using some iron steps.
